A certain Alvaro Morata who plies his trade at Chelsea could not hold back his joy as he ended his goal drought in his club’s slim victory at Europa league on Thursday.
The Spaniard scored the only goal as Chelsea laboured to a 1-0 victory over a much underrated Vidi at the Europa League. That was Morata’s second goal in all competitions this season. He could have had more but he’s known to be wasteful in front of goals, a feat which is becoming frustrating among the fans.
According to a stat from Opta, that goal came after his 14th shots at the competition, further stressing how wasteful he had been in front of goals.
He had previously missed an open chance before finally getting one from a Willian’s header flicks. Chelsea now have a maximum 6 points from their first two games in the group stage.
Arsenal beat Qarabaq 3-0 in an entertaining encounter at the Europa League. Super Eagles winger, Alex Iwobi particularly impressed. Young goalkeeper, Leno was also outstanding, pulling some strings of fine save to keep Arsenal in contention before guiding them to a comfortable win.
