Zinedine Zidane has stepped down as Real Madrid’s manager five days after helping his club beat Liverpool to lift a third consecutive Champions League trophy.

Zidane reportedly called for an emergency Press Conference to announce he is stepping down after a futile meeting with the club’s president, Florentino Perez.

According to BBC Sports,  Zidane told a news conference that “everything changes” and “that’s why I took this decision”.

“I love this club,” he added.

“What I think is that this team needs to continue winning but I think it needs a change, a different voice, another methodology. And that’s why I took this decision.”
