Liverpool Reminded Arsenal Fans of Wenger in 5-1 Anfield Rout

Its’s same old story as Liverpool battered Arsenal 5-1 in a Premier League game at Anfield on Saturday evening. Liverpool continue to show the world they are serious contender of the league this season as they beat Arsenal to go nine points clear at the top of the table, although Man City have played a game lesser.

Arsenal’s performance was abysmal and shows no difference from what the fans witness during the latter stage of Arsene Wenger’s era at the club. With the absence of Bellerin and Ozil, Arsenal were definitely going to struggle with the pace at which Liverpool play. There was no one to dictate play for the Gunners as the succumbed to Liverpool constant threats.

Looked like it was going to be one of Arsenal days after getting to a flying start, Maitland-Niles opening the score in the 11th minute but the lead couldn’t last pass two minutes as the Gunners defence committed an error to gift Firminho who pounded home a loose deflected ball. Moments later, the Brazilian put Liverpool ahead in a solo effort which dismantled the Gunners defence.

Mane and Salah also got on the score sheet before Firminho completed a hat trick from the penalty spot to round off an embarrassing scoreline of 5-1 at Anfield.

Comic: Wengers’s face in Emery’s head

Arsenal fans could not hide their frustration at such an embarrassing scoreline, comparing Emery’s management with Wenger’s. Some reckoned, the situation couldn’t have been this worse under Wenger while others feel Emery may not be the right person to take over from the Frenchman.
