The recent killings by the Fulani herdsmen in Benue has angered the youth and has led to a massive protest. The federal government have been accused of keeping silent on the situation because the president does not want to hurt his people. The youth also accused the Benue government of being incapacitated of securing their lives and properties and this means they will stand up to defend their territory themselves.
Speaking to Galaxy News, the spokeman of The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin has also accused the federal government of not taking the issue seriously. He reckons that lives and properties now means nothing to the government that they feel those that died will be buried by their families.
The protesters are calling on the presidency to bring the culprits to book. The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as “Presidential Intervention needed”, “Why value cows to Humans”, and “Stop this incessant blood bath”.
