The 2nd Geoffery Axworthy Lecture held yesterday at the University of Ibadan (UI). The school also decided to honour the Nobel Laurette who was recently honoured with a museum at OAU.

They decided to honour him by renaming their 63-year-old Unibadan Arts Theatre after the Nigerian born literary icon and Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka.

Unfortunately, the joyous and momentous day was almost destroyed by a tragedy as the Guest lecturer and former Dean of Humanities at Redeemer’s Universit, Ahmed Yerima slummed while delivering his paper.

He was immediately revived and rushed in an ambulance to the university hospital. The master of ceremony, Longley Evru, who promptly noted, “the show must continue”, helped the lecturer to read the concluding part of the paper.
