Governor Aminu Tambuwal Declares Monday as Public Holiday
The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has declared Monday, December 31, as a public holiday in the state, to allow residents offer special prayer for the repose of the soul of former President of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria, Shehu Shagari who died at the age of 93 and has since been buried in his home town according to Islamic rites.
This was contained in a statement by Governor Tambuwal’s Director General, Media and Public Affairs, Malam Abubakar Shekara, and issued to newsmen on Saturday in Sokoto.
The Governor said that the decision followed consultation with the Sultanate Council. This shows a high level of respect on the part of the state as a whole.
