Man United overcame a stubborn Newcastle to beat the 2-0 at St. James’ Park in an EPL match on Wednesday night, courtesy of goals from Lukaku and Rashford.
Man United enjoyed a fourth straight win under caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after enduring a torrid encounter against a solid Newcastle. Unlike the previous three opponents, Newcastle served a big test for the newly look United under their former player as they had to wait for two second half goals to seal a vital win.
The win took them just six points adrift off top four and three behind fifth placed Arsenal who beat Fulham 4-1 yesterday
In other top team fixture, Chelsea failed in a stalemate draw against Southampton at Stamford Bridge, making Man United close the gap to six points. Chelsea are beginning to witness a decline in performance from the new style of football which previously brought about solid start to their season.
Although, they could have won the game but Chelsea had a goal by Morata ruled out for offside. With the top four becoming more competitive with the resurgence of Man United under new manager, Chelsea will need to step up their games and begin to produce positive results
