Messi led Argentina team may be on the verge of exiting the World Cup in Russia 2018 following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of rampant Croatia.

The Argentina coach decided to drop Rojo and Di Maria from the line up which started in the drawn match against Iceland and this proved costly as they were disgraced by Croatia.

The match was evenly contested and fewer chances were created ending the first half goalless. It was an entirely different ball game in the second half after the Argentine’s goalkeeper Caballero made a terrible mistake to grant Croatia the first goal through Rebic’s volley.

Real Madrid’s Luka Modric doubled the lead moments later after curling a shot from 20 yard which was too powerful for the goalkeeper to stop. As if that wasn’t enough, Barcelona’s Rakitic completed the goal haul with a simple tap-in after the keeper earlier paried his shot.

The situation becomes more difficult for Argentina who could be facing an early exit after picking up just a point from their opening two games. Messi will be very disappointed as his ambition to win his 6th Balon dor may just have hit a snag
