Cristiano Ronaldo looks to have been swept up by French Open fever as he takes some time out to recuperate following Real Madrid’s latest Champions League success before commencing the task of trying to lead European champions Portugal to World Cup glory in Russia.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner did not feature for the national team on Monday evening as they threw away a two-goal lead handed to them by Andre Silva and Joao Mario in a 2-2 draw with Tunisia in Braga.

He will again be absent on Saturday night for the second of three warm-up friendlies against Belgium at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels.

However, Ronaldo, who travelled to Marbella for a holiday after helping Real to beat Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev last weekend, is expected to join up with his Portugal team-mates soon and should be available for a final pre-tournament fixture against Algeria in Lisbon next Thursday.

Rather than simply just resting following a long season, however, the gifted 33-year-old appears to have also been brushing up on his tennis skills during that break, taking to Instagram on Saturday to post a picture of himself and friend Miguel Paixao posing with rackets on a clay court alongside a caption that reads: ‘Winners’.

Ronaldo is friends with Rafael Nadal, a Real Madrid supporter, and has previously been spotted courtside watching the ‘King of Clay’ in action. The pair also starred together in an advert for Nike back in 2012.
