Supreme Court upholds Seizure of Patience Jonathan’s $8.4m
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has upheld the Federal Government seizure of $8.4m belonging to the immediate past First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan.
According to PUNCH, the apex court’s 5-man bench led by Justice Dattijo Muhammad dismissed Patience Jonathan’s appeal directing her instead to return her case before the Federal High Court with causes on why the funds should not be seized.
Justice Kumai Aka’ahs said in the lead judgment on Friday Morning;
“I do not find any reason to interfere with the decision of the lower court.
Justice Aka’ahs added, “Appellant is to go back to the trial court (the Federal High Court) to show cause why the interim order should not be made permanent.”
Other members of the five-man panel include Justices Muhammad, John Okoro, Eko, and Sidi Bage. They all agreed with Kumai Aka’ahs judgment.
