Neymar scored one and provided another to help Brazil laboured to 2-0 victory over rival Mexico to reach the quarter final. There was no much drama in the first half as the match ended stalemate but there was plenty of it in the second half with the Mexican goalkeeper being forced to some saves before Neymar finally found a breakthrough.

Willian played a huge role in setting up Neymar for the first goal which came six minutes into the second half. The Mexicans could not show the resilience they gave in the first half while Brazil continue to press until they sealed the win through Firminho who came on for Coutinho barely five minutes.

Brazil will have to wait for the outcome from the match between Belgium and Japan to know their opponent in the quarter final
