What Barcelona, Real Madrid Defeat Means to La Liga

Barcelona and Real Madrid were dealt a blow in their league pursuit after losing away to Leganes and Sevilla respectively on Wednesday night.

It has not been all smooth with the so called giants of football in La Liga this season with Real Madrid and Barcelona dropping unnecessary points recently.

Much attention is being placed on Premier League where the competition and controversies are getting stiffer, but a lot of mystery is also being uncovered in a league such as the La Liga. Barcelona had to let go of 1-0 lead at half time to go down 2-1 at full time at the hands of underrated Leganes’ team.

In the last two games, Barcelona had dropped five points from a possible six points from two winnable games. Their last outing at Camp Nou, they forgone two goal lead to take away just a point in a 2-2 draw against Girona. Same thing happened yesterday but was worse after being thrashed 2-1 at the hands of Leganes.

Real Madrid on the other hand showed they are missing their talisman in Cristiano Ronaldo after being beaten 3-0 at Sevilla. Real Madrid were so poor and posed no threat as they falter against a more determined Sevilla side.

Although, they both sit at the top of the table with Barcelona with 13 points, same as Real Madrid but on a goal difference advantage. Both teams still look like they are still in charge of the league but recent results showed their power is gradually declining and any team can actually wipe them.
