Croatia set up a crunching final against France after coming from behind to beat England 2-1 in the semi final at the ongoing World Cup in Russia.
England were on cause to join France who beat Belgium, in final, after Trippier’s early goal take them until Croatia found an equalizer via Perisic’s finish. England could have sealed the win long before the equalizer but squandered a lot of opened chances, inviting the Croatians back to the game with lackadaisical attitude.
Madzukic broke England’s heart in the second half of the extra time, scoring from a close range to seal the comeback for the Croatians.
Croatia have come a long way, bypassing different forms of hurdles to reach the final. They look more ready than their English counterpart. They pulled similar comeback against Russia, although they had to wait for a penalty shoot-out to decide their victory following an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Just like France, the Croatian team are compact and have some quality players to help them through. England have failed in their first real test in this competition. Many had tipped the English team to reach the final following their pairing on the play-off table after becoming the runner-up to Belgium in their group.
France have come this far not because they have played fantastic attacking football but for their tactical brilliance. Their win against Belgium is a typical example of how tactically good they are. However, they have huge task before them in the final. Croatia on the other hand are dramatic and are a very difficult team to deal with.
It will be a very interesting final at the end.
