Roma beat Liverpool 4-2 at Stadio Olympico but was not enough to take them to the final as the aggregate 7-6 scoreline went in favour of Liverpool.
It took just 9 minutes for Mane to put Liverpool in front and a deflected own goal helped Roma level at 1-1 in the 15th minute. Ten minutes later, Wijnaldum put Liverpool back in front to leave the scoreline at 1-2 by half time.
The game changed in the second half with Roma showing great spirit and determination to come back and force the game into extra time. They almost got what they wanted after pushing so hard, Dzeko leveled for the Italians in the 56th minutes and Niangolan left it late before scoring two goals to get the game to 4-2.
It was a great effort from the Italians who did similar comeback against Barcelona in the quarter final.
