Cristiano Ronaldo converted a last minute penalty to help Real Madrid overcome Juventus comeback scare as they played 1-3 at the Santiago Bernebeu. Real Madrid went into the game with 3-0 advantage from the first leg of the quarter final, but Juventus provided a scare as the score two first half goals before adding the third in the second half.
With the aggregate scoreline remaining at 3-3 at stoppage time, Real Madrid were awarded a controversial penalty which led to Buffon being sent off after strongly protesting against the referee’s decision. Vazquez fell down in the Juve’s box after a soft challenge from Benatia, the Real Madrid player was through on goal before he was tackled from behind by Benatia who was awarded the yellow card.
Ronaldo’s penalty goal sent Real Madrid to the semi final which also have Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Roma. The semi final draw will take place on Friday.
