The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), through its executive secretary has released a statement that around 100 Christian pilgrims abscond during the 2017 pilgrimage to Israel.
Tor Uja, mentioned that no pilgrim absconded in Rome and Greece but about 100 of them absconded in Israel incusing a police inspector, a serving soldier and a lecturer.
He also not disclose the states that these people are from but he said these states gave been tagged red flag.
He also explained that as part of the efforts of the commission to check pilgrim from absconding, the commission has decided to increase security surveillance during the pilgrimage.
Uja explained that Nigeria was a country of future while explaining that the coming together of Nigeria was beyond what the colonialists conceived, he said the coming together was an act of God.
He further explained that the NCPC would intensify its screening mechanism to bring defection to an end and they have started blacklisting states, publishing the names of absconders and their guarantors in national newspapers.

He also mentioned that a committee has been instituted and the committee consists of 18 members made up of the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Airforce, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State and Services (DSS) and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria
