Man United opened the 2018/19 Premier League season with a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford. United style of play was no improvement as Mourinho stick to his defensive style of play after Pogba opened the scoring via a penalty in the 2nd minute of the first half. After a successful World Cup outing, Pogba looked ready for the 2018/19 Premier League season putting out a solid performance for his team tonight.
Leicester enjoyed much of the possession with United sitting back to preserve their one goal lead. However, De Gea was forced to action after his crucial save which prevented an equalizer shortly before half time. Leicester was impressive despite losing Mahrez to Man City before the transfer window closes ahead of the2018/19 Premier League season.
There was a bit of improvement in the second half with new signing Fred combining well with Pogba and Mata in the midfield. Leicester could not pose a serious threat with United defensive pair, Bailly and Lindelof doing a good job to keep the Leicester attack at bay. Sanchez continue to disappoint, losing possession the most times on the pitch.
United extended their lead following a goal scored by a very unusual goalscorer, Luke Shaw, his first senior career goal in 144th appearance in club football. Leicester pull one back via substitute, Jamie Vardy from a header after a deceitful cross hit the woodwork and rebounded back to the England striker.
