Firdaus Amasa the Muslim devout who made a statement in the Nigerian community after she refused to remove her Hijab for her call to bar ceremony has finally been called to bar in Abuja.
This happened after a coalition for justice for her sprang up, accompanied by diverse Muslim communities and the general public. She took the case to court and charged that it is an infringement on her fundamental human rights.
However, The Nigerian Body of Benchers who have not been a party to any of the court cases unanimously decided to induct Amasa into the legal practice irrespective of the current ongoing court case. They are a group of current and retired legal practitioners who have the final say on codes applicable to the legal profession. This decision led to a spark of jubilation in the Nigerian Muslim community.
She commended the authorities for standing down the opposition to her and thanked the Muslim communities for standing by her through it all.
