Arsenal missed the chances to hold a greater advantage into the Europa League semi final second leg after allowing 10-man Atletico Madrid hold them to 1-1 draw at the Emirates. In a match which had high intensity, Atletico Madrid were reduced to 10 men as early as 8th minute into the game after Sime Vrsaljko picked up a second yellow following two bookable offences.
Arsenal had the major possession but couldn’t break down the Atletico Madrid’s defence until second half when Lacazette headed home Wilshere’s cross to put the host ahead. Arsenal pressed further but were unfortunate to allow Griezmann slot in an equalizer eight minutes from time leaving Atletico Madrid with an away goal advantage ahead of the second leg in Spain
