Any attempt by anybody to cover up whatever sin he was a victim of, will definitely lead the person into more deadly sins and extra penalties from the Chief Justice of heavens and earth. David’s attempt to cover up his sexual immorality with Bathsheba, Uriah’s wife, landed him in another iniquity, the murdering of the woman’s innocent husband (2 Sam 11:3-17).

DON’T COVER IT UP
READ 2 SAMUEL 11:1-27
MEMORISE: He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. (Proverbs 28:13)
Costly mistakes in life create room for costly, severe punishments. David was paid back for his seemingly covered up sin with the followings penalties: (1) Painful loss of Bathsheba’s child for David to the cold hands of death (2 Sam 12:14-18); (2) Amon, David’s son, raped David’s daughter, Tamar—blemishing incest (2 Sam 13:1-15); (3) Absalom, David’s son, killed Amon, as his father killed Uriah—devastating household murder (2 Sam. 13:28-29); and (4) Absalom had sex with his father’s wives openly—shameful and desecrating incest (2 Sam 16:21-23). Sin and righteousness are like seeds. Anyone you sow, you reap in abundance (Gal 5:6-7).
What are those sins you have done in the past and present but still cover them up, and are passing through predicaments, consequently because of them? Don’t cover them up any longer. Clean them up, now. Just acknowledge the sin (Psa 51:3, 32:5), confess, repent and forsake the sin (Prov 28:13; 2 Chro 7:14-15), then Jesus shall set you free from every sorrow of sin surrounding your life.
1. Father, I confess the sin I have harboured in me all these while.
2. God, restore to me, the joy I had lost, opportunity I had missed in life, sequel to my covered up sins.
3. Lord, help me to cherish relationship with You than the ‘shame’ of confessing my covered up sins, and making the necessary restitution.
