Chelsea Begin Title Defence with Defeat, Liverpool Drew, Rooney on Point for Everton


Cheslea had two men sent off to lose to Burnley in their opening match of the Premier League season. Captain Gary Cahill was sent off early minutes into the match leading to a 2-3 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He was given a straight red card for a 2 feet challenge on Burnley players.

Burnley took advantage and were already 3-0 up in the first half. Two goals from Sam Vokes and one for Stephen Wards gave the visitor the goal advantage needed to secure a win for Burnley

New boy Morata came on to pull one back for Chelsea`before David Luiz scored the second just a few minute after Fabregas got the second red in the match, rounding up a five goal thriller at Stamford Bridge,

Rooney scored the only goal in his Premier League return to Everton to them beat Stoke 1-0 at Goodison Park. Meanwhile, earlier in the afternoon, Liverpool were forced into a 3-3 draw against Watford with new boy Mohammed Salah scoring in his Premier League debut for Liverpool
