Nineteen year old striker, Marcus Rashford was the hero as Man United edged Liverpool in an eventful Premier League encounter at Old Trafford early hour of Saturday. It didn’t take more than 14 minutes before Rashford scored the opener after getting a header pass from Lukaku and squeezing past Arnold before whining the ball to the top corner of Liverpool’s net.
The England striker scored his second ten minutes later from similar position after receiving the ball from a scrambled effort from Mata which was deflected to set Rashford who coolly finished off from a deflected shot. Man United could have been 3 up by the end of the first half but Mata’s half volley could not find the back of the net.
The second half was a different ball game as Liverpool continued to press in search of a goal, but had to wait till the 66th minute before Bailly’s own goal raised back their hop, unfortunately, they fought but couldn’t get a second past United’s plucky defence.
The result means United are five points above Liverpool on the second spot with 65 points.
