Residents of Ilorin are alarmed at the increasing rate of robbery attacks. On Wednesday, 16th of May, 2018, people ran for their dear lives on hearing gunshots by 8-9.30 p.m around Orange Filling station, in Tanke Junction area of Ilorin, Kwara state.
To add to the dread, another operation took place yesterday, 18th of May, 2018 at Challenge/Unity road where there is a cluster of banks in “broad daylight” according to an eyewitness. The irony of the situation is that the bank which was robbed is also located very close to the Ilorin “A” division Police where the infamous SARS have their headquarter.
What is the police doing about this??
Initially, the police in a press release refuted claims of alleged robbery activities and urged residents to stay calm. Consequently, DSP Okasanmi Ajayi said in a statement on Thursday in Ilorin that the command was looking for a Mercedes Benz V-Booth with registration number Ado Ekiti ADK 418. Ajayi said preliminary investigation had revealed that the vehicle with five occupants was used by the suspected hoodlums. He further added that:“Members of the public are hereby advised to furnish the police with information on this vehicle and its occupants whenever and where ever seen for possible arrest and prosecution.”
We pray the robbers won’t go scotfree.
